- Margherita wasn't taking a photo of the other students. She wasn't talking to anyone / she was waiting at the ice cream van.

Past Continuous (Минулий тривалий) (Вправи 2, 3, 4)
Використовується для опису дій, що тривали у певний момент у минулому. Він описує "фон" або "сцену" подій.
- The students were lying on the grass. (Вони лежали - це процес, фон).
- Doris was making a necklace. (Вона робила - процес).
- The owner wasn't selling burgers. (Він не продавав - процес у запереченні).
- What were they arguing about? (Про що вони сперечалися? - запитання про процес).
Past Simple (Минулий простий)
Використовується для опису:
- Завершених дій у минулому, часто в послідовності (одна за одною).
- I finished my drink and washed the glass. (Я допив і помив - дві послідовні дії).
- Дій, що переривають іншу дію.
- I was chatting with friends when I saw you. (Я розмовляв (тривала дія), коли я тебе побачив (коротка дія, що перервала)).
Це поєднання часів є ключовим для розповіді історій у минулому.
