Вправа 7E (Grammar: Conditional sentences)

Complete with the correct form of the verbs in brackets. / Доповніть речення правильною формою дієслів у дужках.

If I had (have) a lot of money, I would make (make) a donation. (2nd Conditional: unreal present)
Would you become (become) a detective if you liked (like) solving crimes? (2nd Conditional: hypothetical question)
Mandy would buy (buy) a car if she knew (know) how to drive. (2nd Conditional: unreal present)
If I were / was (be) you, I would apologise (apologise) to my parents. (2nd Conditional: advice)
If I don't know (not know) how to put this chair together, I will read (read) the instructions. (1st Conditional: real future possibility. *Alternately, it could be a zero conditional if it's a general truth for the speaker: "If I don't know..., I read...". But "will read" is more likely for a specific situation. Let's stick with 1st Conditional as it's more common in such exercises unless context demands otherwise.*)

I've got a terrible hairstyle and people make fun of me.

*Або: I wish people didn't make fun of me.*
The fundraising event is on Saturday. I'd love to go but I can't.
I wish I could go to the fundraising event (on Saturday). (Я хотів би мати можливість піти на благодійний захід.)
I want to enter the competition but I'm not old enough.
I wish I were/was old enough (to enter the competition). (Я хотів би бути достатньо дорослим.)
