Правила (In the past simple passive):
- we use was / ___ + (not) + ___ participle.
- if we want to say the person/thing that did the action, we use ___.
- we use was / were + (not) + past participle.
- if we want to say the person/thing that did the action, we use by.

- This house was built in the 16th century. (Зайвий 'it's'; дія відбулася в минулому (16th century), тому Past Simple Passive 'was built'.)

Граматика: Past Simple Passive (Пасивний стан минулого часу)
На цій сторінці ми вивчаємо пасивний стан для дій, що відбулися в минулому. Ми використовуємо його, коли фокус зміщений на об'єкт, над яким виконали дію, а не на виконавця.
Формула (Впр. 2):
was / were + Past Participle (V3 / -ed)
Приклади (Впр. 5):
- Active (Активний): Alexander Fleming discovered penicillin.
- Passive (Пасивний): Penicillin was discovered by Alexander Fleming.
- Active (Активний): They built this house in the 16th century.
- Passive (Пасивний): This house was built in the 16th century.
Важливо (Впр. 5): Не плутайте пасивний стан з дієсловами стану. Дієслова, як-от 'taste', 'feel', 'smell', 'look', зазвичай не використовуються в пасивному стані, коли описують характеристику.
Правильно: "The medicine tasted terrible." (Ліки смакували жахливо.)
Неправильно: "The medicine was tasted terrible."
Лексика: Дієслова сприйняття: look (at), see, watch (Впр. 1, 2)
Ці три дієслова часто плутають:
- SEE (бачити): Автоматична дія; помічати щось очима, часто випадково.
"Did you see that van? It was fast." (Ти помітив той фургон?) - LOOK (AT) (дивитися (на)): Свідома, цілеспрямована дія; спрямувати погляд на щось.
"Look at the whiteboard." (Подивіться на дошку.) - WATCH (дивитися, спостерігати): Свідома дія; дивитися на щось, що рухається або змінюється протягом певного часу (TV, фільм, гра, трюк).
"I was watching films all night." (Я дивився фільми всю ніч.)
"Watch my hands." (Спостерігайте за моїми руками.)
