Вправа 1 (Grammar: Reported speech)

1. Match the speech bubbles (a-d) to the examples (1-4). / Зіставте "бульбашки" з прямою мовою (a-d) з прикладами непрямої мови (1-4).

Пряма мова (Speech bubbles):
a. "I can take you later."
b. "We won't get angry."
c. "I want people to send a CV."
d. "I'm working till 6.30."

Непряма мова (Examples):
1. The manager said he wanted people to send a CV.
2. They told me they wouldn't get angry.
3. Mum said she was working till 6.30.
4. Mum said she could take us to the cinema.

Вправа 4 (Grammar)

4. Complete the second sentence so that it has the same meaning as the first. Use one, two or three words. / Доповніть друге речення так, щоб воно мало те ж значення, що й перше. Використайте одне, два або три слова.

Граматика: Непряма мова (Reported Speech - Statements)

На цій сторінці ми вчимося передавати те, що сказала інша людина (твердження), не цитуючи її дослівно. Це називається непрямою мовою.

1. Зсув часів (Tense Shift) (Впр. 2):
Якщо дієслово-звіт (reporting verb) стоїть у минулому часі (найчастіше said або told), час дієслова з прямої мови "зсувається на один крок назад у минуле":

  • Present Simple → Past Simple
    "I want..." → He said he wanted... (Впр. 1.1)
  • Present Continuous → Past Continuous
    "I am working..." → She said she was working... (Впр. 1.3)
  • will → would
    "We won't get..." → They told me they wouldn't get... (Впр. 1.2)
  • can → could
    "I can take..." → She said she could take... (Впр. 1.4)

2. 'Say' vs. 'Tell' (Впр. 3):
Це головне правило, яке часто плутають:

  • TELL (told): Завжди вимагає додатка (кому?).
    He told me that... (Він сказав мені, що...)
  • SAY (said): Не вимагає додатка. Якщо ви хочете додати, кому сказали, використовуйте 'to'.
    He said that... (Він сказав, що...)
    He said to me that... (Він сказав мені, що...)

3. Зміна займенників (Pronoun Change):
Не забувайте змінювати займенники, щоб вони відповідали новій перспективі.
"I'm not listening to you!" → Chris said that he wasn't listening to her. (Впр. 4.4)

Лексика: say / speak / talk / tell (Впр. 1, 2)

  • Speak: про мовні навички (speak English) або формальні виступи.
  • Say: сказати щось (say 'hello', say something, say that...).
  • Talk: розмовляти (talk to someone, talk about something).
  • Tell: розповідати (tell someone something: tell me the truth, tell a story).
